Below is important information for the start of the
2018-2019 school year.

2018-2019 START-END TIMES

The first day of school for students will be Monday, August 20.    Classes will begin each morning at 8:40 a.m., and our doors will open each morning at 8:15 a.m.  Before-school care (7:15 - 8:15 a.m.) is available at $1.00 per morning and interested parents should complete the Before School Care packet available in the main office or our website.   Students will be dismissed each afternoon at 3:45 p.m., and students must be picked up no later than 4:00 p.m.

Pick up your schedule, purchase P.E. uniforms, join our PTO and SIC, pay technology fees and complete Infosnap and proof of residency.  PTA will be selling HHIMS sweatshirts.



SPORT PHYSICALS
Any 7th or 8th grade students wanting to participate in HHIMS sports must have a sports physical on file.  Our sports physical packet is available in the main office.  Parents will be notified when sports physicals dates have been scheduled.

 

BEFORE-SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM

Our Before School Care Program will be introduced this year to accommodate parents who need to drop their children at school before 8:15 a.m.   It begins at 7:15 a.m. before the start of the school instructional day and ends promptly at 8:15 a.m.  There is a $20.00 registration fee and a $1.00 per day charge per student.  Monthly payments preferred.  Only registered students may attend.  Registration packets are available in the main office or our website.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please read the HHIMS Stingray Scoop newsletter posted on our website at https://hhims.beaufortschools.net .  It is posted weekly on the school website.  Visit the district website to sign up for text messaging!  In order to participate in this service, you must indicate your willingness to receive text messages to your phone.  
The process is simple and only takes a few seconds to complete. Simply text any one of the following words: subscribeoption, or yes, to this number 68453. 
You’ll know you were successful if you receive the following reply from SchoolMessenger: 
"You are registered to receive approx 3 msgs/mo. Txt STOP to quit, HELP for help."
You’ll want to repeat the opt-in process for any wireless numbers that you wish to include.

 

SCHOOL MEALS – NEW LUNCH PRICES
Lunch prices for the 2018-2019 have been approved by the school board and are as follows: 

  • Reduced breakfast - .30¢, full paid breakfast - $1.00, all schools.
  • Reduced lunch - .40¢, full paid lunch for elementary is $1.75 /$2.25 for middle and high school. 

There are two options to make prepayments to your student’s lunch account:

  • Prepay funds to the Cashier in the Lunch Room     
  • Prepay funds online at www.paypams.com

 

Effective June 1, The cost of each online transaction (www.paypams.com) will be $1.95 and will be deducted from the prepayment.  There are no fees associated with payments made in the Lunch Room.

 

INFOSNAP – STUDENT REGISTRATION SYSTEM

All students will need to register on the Beaufort County School District’s online student registration system for the 2018-2019 academic year.   Parents will receive their INFOSNAP LOGIN via email during the week of July 16. (Check this date with Lewanda) Please check for the email.  Proof of Residency can be completed through INFOSNAP by uploading required documents or by bringing a copy of the documents into the school office.    Your School Registration will be complete after you submit the following items:

  • Completed Infosnap Registration
  • Proof of Residency scanned/uploaded into Infosnap or brought to the main office
  • 1:1 Technology Agreement signed by student and parent (located in the HHIMS office, HHIMS website or the district website).
  • $20.00 Technology Fee paid through the HHIMS website (OPS) or cash/check submitted to the main office

The above four items must be completed before students are issued a tablet.   All these requirements can be handled at HHIMS on Thursday, August 16 during Stingray Startup.  The Connect to Learn Handbook is located on our website.  Looking forward to a great 2018-2019 school year!

 

BUS ASSIGNMENTS AND ROUTES
These will be posted in the local newspaper and on the district website usually the week before school starts.

STUDENT AGENDA BOOKS
Every student will receive an agenda book when school starts.  Additional agenda books can be purchased for $5.00 in the school office.

 

SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST
School supply lists are available on the district website.

 

CLUBS
Students can sign up for clubs during Stingray Startup on Thursday, August 16 or when school begins.  Listen to daily announcements and read the Stingray Scoop for club listings and start-up dates.

 

FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH FORMS
Forms must be completed each and every school year.  Parents only need to complete one form for the family.  Forms are included in the Infosnap registration and online at www.paypams.com/onlineapp.  This system will become active on July 1, 2018.

PICTURE DAY

Monday, September 24 is School Picture Day!  Envelopes/order forms will be sent home with students.  HHIMS requires students to wear their school uniforms on Picture Day!  Picture Retake Day has not been scheduled yet.     All students are required to have their picture taken for the yearbook even if a picture package is not purchased. 

 

SUMMER READING
Read one book from the HHIMS book list or the BCSD Overdrive eBook system.  Books will be available this summer for sign-out at the Hilton Head Public Library.  Students will complete an assignment when they return to school.


 TDAP VACCINE
7th grade students are required to have one dose of the Tdap vaccine prior to starting school on Monday, August 20.   Please provide proof of this vaccine to our nurse.  Our school fax number is 843-689-4624.

STUDENT LOCKERS
Lockers will be assigned by teachers after school starts.
